Welcome to Model Integrity! If you are considering purchasing a Groupon certificate or have already done so and want to know what's next, please read below...
What is my Groupon valid for?
It is valid for one Model Workshop. Workshops take place on specific dates, and you must pre-register to attend. (Please see the “Upcoming Events” section of the website for workshop dates).

What are these Model Workshops?
They are two hour sessions that walk you through everything you need to know to understand the modeling industry, pursue joining it, and work as a model. Please read the “Upcoming Events” and “Interested in Modeling” sections of the website to get more specifics on what they include. And check out the "True Story" interview on the blog posting below to hear the story of someone who's worked with us.

What ages are these Model Workshops for?
Model Integrity workshops are meant to assist individuals of all ages. Whether you are the parent of a small child with a dazzling smile, a teen with hopes of seeing the runway, or an adult who wants to know about commercial modeling, we have answers for you.

Can we call or email you to get Modeling Advice?
While helping people is what we do best, please save your questions about the modeling industry for your workshop date. Due to high volume we are simply not able to answer everyone’s questions, and in fact this is exactly why the Model Integrity Workshops exist! We look forward to hearing your story and getting you answers at that time. Once you've purchased your Groupon, please do call or email to reserve your Workshop space.

What if I can’t attend one of the dates that are listed on the website right now?
Don’t worry, it’s most likely that additional dates will be added once we see how many Groupon certificates are sold. New dates are already pending – some for right away, some for three to six months out. Please note that most workshops will take place on either a weekday morning, a weekday evening, or a Sat morning. We will make sure to add enough workshops to accommodate the number of Groupons sold.

How do I redeem my Groupon?
Once your Groupon is purchased and valid and you’re ready to book your actual Model Workshop date, you can call or email us to register. When you get in touch, we’ll take your Groupon certificate number, a few details about you, and block off a space for that specific workshop date. Please know that space is limited at each workshop, but we will make sure to add new workshops if the first ones fill up. Your Groupon certificate is valid for six months, so you may make your reservation for a Workshop within this timeline.

If I am a parent and want to attend with my teen (or vice versa), or to get info for a child model, do I need to buy more than one Groupon certificate?
No. One parent is allowed with each model 18 or under. So a parent and their teen may attend together with one Groupon, but please specify the “guest” when registering. A parent may attend to get info for one or all of their children (with only one registration), but we do recommend you leave small children at home when you attend.

If you have a third immediate family member that wants to attend (say dad & mom both with their teen), there is a $19 immediate family guest fee that can be paid to us when you register. You may read more about this on the website “faq” section.

If you have friends that want to register, we look forward to meeting them! But they will need to purchase their own Groupon (if the deal is still on) or register with us separately.

Where do Model Integrity Workshops take place?
Currently all of our workshops take place in the lower level meeting space of Java Train Café. Java Train is in the Midway Area of St Paul, near Como Park and the State Fair Grounds. Please see the “Upcoming Events” page of the website for address and details.

We decided to take a minute to catch up with a past client and share a story with you of what the journey into modeling can look like. Thanks Scott for taking the time to share with us...

Interview with Model & Actor Scott Eiden ~ May 2011

-What did you think about modeling before you attended a Model Integrity (MI) Workshop?
At the time, I was 32 and looking to make a switch from construction to sales as a spokesperson and it was highly recommended that I get a professional headshot to do so. I was highly encouraged to submit myself for modeling as well. I was skeptical at first but after reading the bio for Model Integrity I decided it was a "safe" way to explore this new line of work. There happened to be a MI seminar a week out so I signed up.

-How did the MI workshop shape your perspective on the industry?
Accurately! I've been in the industry now for a little over 2 years and Shannon was right on!

-What was the most useful thing you learned through MI?
"Don't take it personally, you're clip art! The director for a project has an image in mind and you may or may not fit it. It's that simple." This is completely true. This industry is a business and your image is what's for sale, so DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY.

-Did you decide to pursue modeling after your workshop & how did you go about it?
Yes. After learning about the Mpls modeling industry I decided I had a good chance at making something work. I decided to shoot a comp card and head shot with Feather Blue Studios.

-What did you think about your photo shoot experience?
It was a wonderful first experience. I was nervous of course, being in construction for 8 years didn't lend me the skills needed to smile in front of the camera, but Shannon's genuine concern for me and really fun attitude helped put me at ease. You have to be comfortable because it's your emotion that comes through on camera!

-Did you end up working with any local agencies and how did that come about?
Yes, I signed on with 2 very good agencies not long after our shoot and I'm still with them today.

-What type of modeling work have you done since?
I've since booked a couple fashion shows, industrial print for Eco lab, Mystic Lake, and Target for example, as well as some commercials and movies.

-Has working with MI or Feather Blue Studios helped you out with any other aspects of your life or career?
Definitely! Not long after signing on, one of the agencies kept sending me out on auditions for commercials. The money was amazing and I decided I needed to take acting classes and give it a shot. The work I've landed and what I've learned since has benefited me in all areas of my life. By the way, not only did I land a role in a local feature film but I got that spokesperson job I originally set out to get! ;-)

-What else would you like people to know about working with Shannon and Model Integrity?
Shannon, loves what she does and she truly has your best interest at heart! Truly!! If you're new to this industry, or like many others out there who have been sold a line of bull just to get your money, Shannon will give you the real scoop on the industry and what you should expect to pay and what you should expect from it. With Shannon, you get what you pay for.... actually, I'd say a little more.

New inspiration is on the way this spring! There are plans for a full-color e-newsletter, headshot discount days through the studio (Feather Blue Studios), more model workshops, and possibly even a spokesmodel contest.

Hello All!

Model Integrity is helping Macy's (Maplewood Mall, MN) cast models for a charity fashion show for their "Shop for a Cause" event, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The show will take place Saturday, October 17th at 2pm ~ (the time commitment is approximately 11:30am-3:30pm).

We need 20 models in all ~ children (both boys & girls ages 4 & up), males, females, and plus sized females, of all ages. This is a an unpaid volunteer opportunity, and great experience especially for newer models. (Runway experience is not necessary, but some modeling experience is preferred). There will be no additional rehearsal commitment, as we'll do one casual rehearsal before the show.

If you are interested in being considered as a model for this event, and ARE AVAILABLE Saturday October 17th, 2009 from approximately 11:30am-3:30pm, then please contact us! Please read the details below carefully to make sure that your submission is give full attention.

*Please EMAIL your submission to modelintegrity@juno.com with the heading "fashion show submission."

*Include one headshot and one full length shot that accurately represent your current look - high quality snapshots are ok. A link to an online portfolio (with your model#) is acceptable as well.

*Please include your height, basic measurements & clothing sizes, plus shoe sizes (or that of your child).

*Include whether or not you've had any modeling or runway experience

*Please confirm that you ARE available that day and have reliable transportation.

If we DO need you, you will hear back from us by Wednesday October 14th at the latest. I'm afraid we will not have time to contact every submission, but thank you so much for your interest and time!

Next Workshop???

We've just recently completed an open model call / workshop event, and I am honored to have met some fun, energetic, beautiful people (inside & out), aspiring to be part of the talent world. But what's next for us?

Well... fall gets really busy around here, with running Feather Blue Studios and all, :) so while I've been aiming to offer a workshop every three months give-or-take, we may wait until post-Christmas/New Years to do our next one.

On the other hand, it seems I am getting more inquiries than ever: "How do I get into modeling?" - "Should we spend our money with so&so?" - "What do you think of this new agency?" So I know the need for honest, straightforward information, advice, and education is as great as ever!

Individual one-on-one consults are always available here at the studio of course, but if you've been looking for info on the next workshop and were hoping for one this fall sometime, will you please let us know? If we get enough requests and can work out a date that works for more than one individual who wants to commit to a workshop, I'll make a point of getting one on the calendar. We KNOW you need this resource. If you have the drive to go for it, we want to help!

Hi All! Just a few updates here from Model Integrity...

The MAIN WEBSITE is finally updated. (Thanks to our intern Kendall for getting that done!) Now both the website and the blog will point you to current events and info on modeling opportunities and agencies in MN.

Our last workshop went great! Thanks to the attendees who made it fun, and to Java Train for being such a great host. Over on the Feather Blue Studios end, we're finishing up comp cards for two of our April event attendees - the shoots went great and I think we have two very marketable models for the Twin Cities market.

We are tentatively planning on a model workshop for July. Most likely a weekday evening, to try to mix things up for those of you who have busy weekends, especially in the summer. If you are interested in getting the new date, please keep your eye on the website in the next couple weeks, or shoot us an email at modelintegrity@juno.com and we'll let you know when the date is set.

And of course, individual consultations are always available for the aspiring model who can't make it to a workshop. Rates and details for all of this can be found on the website.

Model Workshop & Open Call - THIS WEEK!

Our next event is just a few days away (this coming SATURDAY April 18th)! Held at the Java Train coffee shop in St Paul (check two posts down for the address and details or enlarge the flyer to the left).

There's still time to pre-register for the workshop (starting at 10:30am), and of course you're more than welcome to stop into the FREE informational open call (from 10am-10:15am) to get a feel for what we're all about. New Model Workshop - FAQ

With our next workshop coming up, and our main website not quite updated (though I'm happy to say we welcome Kendall, our new intern, who will be helping move that project along!) it seemed that it may be helpful to post some FAQ regarding Model Integrity and our workshops to address many of your questions or concerns. So here goes!

Q: What is Model Integrity?
A: Model Integrity is a resource group in the Twin Cities for aspiring models (of all ages) with the attention of giving models the information and advice they need to avoid model related scams (of which the industry if flooded with) and connect with a legitimate, local agency to find paid modeling bookings.

Q: Who started Model Integrity?
A: Model Integrity was founded by Shannon Tacheny, (who is also the owner/photographer of Feather Blue Studios), and has been a model herself for over ten years, working at some point with almost all of the local agencies. Shannon has modeled for clients such as Best Buy, Fingerhut, and Rocco Altobelli Salons locally, as well as for some shows in NY. She now has two small children who also model in the Twin Cities as well.

Q: Why is a group like Model Integrity necessary?
A: When Shannon began modeling, she researched and considered many different modeling related options, including modeling schools, scouting events, online sites, advertisements, test photographers, and more (probably much like you are). Once she did find a legit agency, she realized that most of these very visible opportunities were actually unnecessary, some of them complete traps costing people large sums of money, while the legit agencies seemed tucked below the surface, overshadowed by all the people trying to make money off of persons interested in pursuing their dreams. She founded Model Integrity to provide the direct, honest information people need to pursue real modeling jobs with a real MN modeling agency.

Q: How does Model Integrity actually go about helping aspiring talent?
A: Model Integrity offers this information primarily through our New Model Workshops. Model Integrity also occasionally hosts open model call events to get models exposure or participate in a test booking to gain experience. Model Integrity is not a modeling agency and is not intended to replace being part of a local MN Modeling agency. Instead, we are a one step resource to help you cut out all of the unnecessary traps, expenses, and confusion, and connect you with the specific info you need to work with a Twin Cities modeling agency. After attending one of our workshops, you will literally have all the info you need to step out the door and pursue a real agency the very next day, as well as the knowledge to communicate effectively with local agencies and clients.

Q: What do you actually cover in a New Model Workshop?
A: The workshops take everything you need to know, beginning to end, from understanding the local market to how to pay your taxes. Here are some of the details:
-Necessary and unnecessary expenses in the world of modeling
-Recognizing scams & identifying legitimate resources
-Contact info for established modeling agencies in the Twin Cities
-How to make the best submission possible (for your look) to an agency
-Understanding model materials - photos, comp cards, portfolios, web, etc.
-Insider info on attending auditions & bookings
-Posing & runway basic training
-Plus, every model gets one-on-one time at the end to answer questions, evaluate any materials you may have now, and help you identify what type(s) of modeling you may be suited for and how to best market this to get you noticed by agencies and clients.

Q: How much does a Model Integrity workshop cost and how often are they?
A: Model Integrity group workshops are generally offered only 2-3 times a year at this point. (So when there's one coming up, you may want to jump on it). As we grow and become a trusted name in the community, we'd like to offer them more often. Group workshops are generally $49 and include a folio of detailed info as well as a free model bag. (FYI: Currently there is a pre-registration rate of $39 being offered for our April 2009 workshop and a photography gift card included as well). If no group workshop is coming up, you may request a one-on-one consulting appointment that will cover the same info for a rate of $95.

Q: How many people are at these workshops?
A: To keep the individual attention up at the end, we limit workshop size to a minimum. There may be as few as two or as many as eight in your workshop. To avoid missing out on the workshop if it fills up, register early.

Q: Does Model Integrity guarantee I will be able to find an agency or paid work after attending a workshop?
A: Absolutely not. This is exactly what makes us legitimate. Any resource in the modeling world that makes promises is likely a trap. We are hoping to restore integrity to the talent industry by offering affordable, honest, legitimate information to persons who have an interest in pursuing modeling in MN. Working with Model Integrity however can give you an edge over other aspiring talent. By helping you avoid costly scams and advising you on the right kind of submission to make to an agency, we can help you avoid mistakes that others are making. This can help you save money as well as give your agency submission the attention it deserves (rather than being immediately tossed in the trash) because it will better suit industry standards, define where you fit into the modeling world, show your knowledge of the industry, and help feature you strengths.

Aveda is holding a casting for hair cut and hair color makeovers this coming WED MARCH 18th, 6pm, Aveda Institute - directions & address here

This is an initial casting and info session, looking for individuals who want a great hair makeover in exchange for modeling for a workshop.

The hair color will be done by European editorial hair colorist David Adams and the hair cuts/style will be done by Nathaniel Hawkins from Project Runway.

Happy New Year everyone! Thanks for visiting the Model Integrity blog.
Please forgive the outdated aspects of the main model integrity website - our event from this past Spring was great, but we need to take that old info down! We're working on a new system to keep it updated more often and focus more on information about helping you learn how to break into the modeling industry ALL the time, not just when we have an event. (Hopefully by the end of Jan the main site will all be updated - so check back with it soon).

In the meantime, if you're interested in modeling (for yourself or your child) you've come to the right place. Model Integrity is a resource for aspiring talent that was founded by Shannon Tacheny (owner of Feather Blue Studios) who herself has been part of the local modeling industry for over ten years and now has children who model as well. When she began pursuing modeling, Shannon quickly found out that just about every path (ad/booth/conference) lead to a scam or request for large sum of money. And now on the other side of things, Shannon desires to help people like you make your attempt at becoming a model in the most legitimate, affordable way.

The main, ongoing thing that Model Integrity offers is our Model Workshops. These affordable workshops are offered every few months and include straight-forward, honest information on everything you need to know to get started. You also gain tips on how to get yourself/your child the edge they need to get the attention of agents and clients in this competitive industry. Each group workshop (only $49) includes a binder of information and legit agency listings, a model bag (for your portfolio & gear) and a $50 gift certificate to use toward a model package with Feather Blue Studios if you wish, plus 5 minutes of one-on-one time at the end. If you prefer an independent session, the same info is available via a one-on-one consultation for $95.

We cannot stress how important this small investment is if you are serious about finding your way into the local modeling scene. Many of our clients come to us after spending as much as $3000 somewhere else, resulting in no actual prospects of real modeling jobs or a legit modeling agency. Our goal is to provide you with the hard-to-come by honest information of this industry, the edge of an insider's opinion, and then help you make your best shot at getting listed with a working, legit local agency.

Model Integrity is not an agency, nor do we intend to be (we hope in fact to have the chance to introduce you to legitimate local MN modeling agencies through our WORKSHOPS). The Dugan Design Group is looking for Models for several upcoming Fiction Book Covers set in costume. They are in particular need of:

2: Red hair, brown eyes, freckles, warm
3: Blond, feminine
4: Male (tall, dark?, handsome)

All should "look" in the 18-30 age group. No experience necessary. These are paid jobs and will shoot sometime in early to mid-August.

Ahh, we've been silent for awhile and yet much is going on!

-Just finished up the last of the five shoots for our Model Integrity event winning models. Congratulations to all of our winning models! We will be posting images from each of those shoots soon (some already as published work by the partnering business)!

-A mini video montage of our April event will be posted shortly (if you were there, watch for yourself!!!)

-Talks for a potential new Model Integrity event for Fall (think runway). :)

-An upcoming Group Workshop is scheduled for Thursday July 24th (late morning) - we'll send details out to our mailing list... if you're not on it, email us or subscribe to this blog.

-And in the future, we will be working on creating our own database of models to refer to local businesses who inquire for bookings & auditions (though our main goal is still to connect you to a local, legit agency).

Just wanted to let everyone out there know we are currently shooting our prize winners from the April event for their various shoots and will be posting those in coming weeks! They should be finished up by the end of the month. Our first shoot for the cover of the TC KIDS DIRECTORY went well and we are excited to see which cover image they will choose for the July or August issue!

Also coming up are plans for monthly workshops, a talent data base, a discounted headshot shoot date, and possibly a fall event! Bear with us, these things take time! But we promise great things are to come, so keep posted. :)

For those of you who may have heard me on the show and are looking for more info on getting yourself or your child into modeling, let me welcome you to Model Integrity! Our slogan is "truth for aspiring talent" and we mean that sincerely. It is our intention to offer detailed, up front, honest advice to aspiring models of all ages regarding pursuing the MN Modeling Market. As the founder of Model Integrity, my passion is to help people avoid the far too prevelant scams in this industry and help them pursue finding a legitimate local modeling agency. I have been where many of you are, trying to find my way into the world of modeling, and quickly found that all of the ads I responded to, open calls I went to, interviews and meetings I attended, wanted me to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to "become a model" or "be discovered." It seemed almost impossible to come by the info I really needed to find my way in...

Now, after being in this industry for over 10 years as a part time local model, and having a young daughter who models as well, it is a passion of mine to help people avoid these traps (that are SO very convincing) & get the information the need to give modeling their best shot - the right way.

Our intention is to do this in a variety of ways, from Model Searches (like our premiere open model call event that took place last week!) to smaller events, but we will continually be offering the "Model Intensive Mini Workshop" as the staple for any model or parent to get EVERYTHING they need to know about pursuing the local modeling market.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Model Search event on Sunday! We had over 100 people attend and appreciated the positive feedback we got from numerous attendees! Thanks also to our wonderful sponsors for supporting us in this event.

Hello All! Our event is less than one week away, and we thought we'd post a bit more about what Model Integrity is and why we are doing this! Well, mainly because we want to HELP YOU! The Twin Cities (and probably every other local market) is in dire need of someone giving aspiring models a legitimate helping hand.

Ultimately, the intention of Model Integrity is to help aspiring models avoid scams & unnecessary expenses, and pursue representation with a local MN Modeling Agency. While there are a lot of people (letters, emails, websites, etc) telling you that THEY can get you modeling work, for the most part, legitimate bookings go through a good, reputable modeling agency. And we are lucky to have some well established modeling agencies here in the Twin Cities. Our current event will touch on that issue, but will ultimately leave you with a refreshing perspecitve on the local Twin Cities modeling market and how to spot scams. And of course, everyone who attends will be auditioning for one of our great photo shoot opportunities!!! -- another way we want to HELP YOU (and keep things light and fun)!

Adult/Teen Female (13-30+) – In coalition with our “Fashion Designer Collaboration” program, four to six female models will be chosen for photo shoots with local fashion designer’s clothing and/or accessory collections. Images will be used to give these promising designers a helping hand in marketing their designs, and in most cases will be featured on the designers’ websites.

Rules & Regulations:
-To enter our Model Search, entrants MUST attend the April 27th 2008 Open Model Call event, where they will have their photo taken and fill out an intake form.
-There is no cost to attend the event or enter the Model Search. No experience is necessary to enter. All ages are welcome to attend and enter.
-Winners will be chosen in coalition with Model Integrity and the owner/staff of the local business that is offering the modeling opportunity.
-Winners will be chosen AFTER the event, within two weeks, and winners will be notified via phone or email of their being chosen shortly after that.
-It is the winners’ responsibility to be available for shoots and to arrive ready and on time. Shoots will take place within two months of the event. Shoot dates will be finalized with the chosen models schedule(s) in mind, based on the information provided on their event intake form. If a chosen winner cannot confirm availability after being notified for a reasonable period of time, Model Integrity reserves the right to choose a new winner.
-In all cases, winners are being awarded an opportunity for a photo shoot, exposure, and a “tear-sheet” to begin or add to their portfolio. No monetary compensation will be awarded.

While our final "Model Opportunities" are still a little hush-hush while we're waiting on getting back some contracts (oh the glories of paperwork), :) I just thought I'd write a sneak peak that we will shortly have some exciting announcements to share regarding the photo-shoots we're going to be awarding to our winning models in each age category!

What we CAN SAY is that Fresh Focus Skincare will be choosing two female models for their website, and that in combination with our Fashion Designer Program (final Fashion Designers to be chosen today), we will have some additional opportunities for some high-fashion shoots with other female models. But what we can't yet share is our soon to be partnership with a certain Menswear boutique, as well as some wonderful opportunities for babies and kids in regards to a kids clothing website and kids magazine.

Our Premiere Model Integrity event will happen Sunday, April 27th! Aspiring models, mark your calendars!

This event is an OPEN MODEL CALL for aspiring models of all ages - CHILDREN, TEENS, ADULTS.

Because Model Integrity exists to offer potential models of all ages HONEST & LEGITIMATE information on how to pursue the local talent industry, each model who attends our open call will have the chance to:

1) Enter our "model search" to win a photoshoot in your age category*
2) Hear a FREE 20 minute session on "Understanding the Mpls Modeling Market & Avoiding Industry Scams"**
3) Browse the tables of select event sponsors who are excited to help you in the areas of fashion, fitness, beauty, etc.

*Photoshoot prizes & modeling opportunity specifics are still being determined and will be annouced on the blog as they are finalized!

**Each Free Info session will also give you the opportunity to win fun prizes and hear about other opportunities that might help you further pursue your modeling career. Discounts will be offered on things such as photoshoots, individual consulting, portfolios, etc. to those that are interested.

If you have little to no experience, have pursued one or more other routes without success, or are hoping to get your big break, this event is for you!

BRING: You are not required to bring anything, but you are welcome to bring a current snapshot or headshot to leave (8x10 or smaller) with your registration; You are also welcome to bring Professional images/comp card, portfolio, and/or modeling/acting resume if you have them. No experience is necessary to be considered for our open call.

Models age 16 or under must have a parent/guardian with them (we recommend models under 18 bring a parent). Models of all ages are also welcome to bring a parent or guest.

Model Integrity exists to offer aspiring models in the Twin Cities (of all ages) HONEST & LEGITIMATE information on how to pursue the modeling industry, while partnering with local businesses to give models the opportunity to be chosen for photoshoots and modeling experiences!

From large open call events to smaller workshops and one-on-one consulting opportunities, we desire to offer individuals interested in modeling the advice of an insider and help them avoid the many scams notoriously prevelant in this industry.

Model Integrity events are open to anyone interested in the talent industry - kids, teens, & adults (primarily ages 0-30). Whether you have a “high-fashion” look or are interested in portraying the everyday, ordinary person, our events will speak to you. If you have little to no experience, have pursued one or more other routes without success, or are hoping to get your big break, a Model Integrity event is the place to start.
